Investcorp, a global provider and manager of alternative investment products, acquired POC, a Sweden-based manufacturer of skiing and cycling helmets, gear and accessories, for a total consideration of $65m.
Outdoor equipment maker Black Diamond, Inc., was the seller.
The deal will enable POC to grow sales, increase penetration into new markets and drive forward innovation.
Established in 2004 and led by Stefan Ytterborn, POC provides athletes and consumers with personal protection products. Its line of products includes helmets, body armor, goggles, eyewear, gloves and other gear, which are currently sold across 27 countries worldwide.
The company also has technical collaboration with partners such as Volvo and Ericsson to pioneer innovative safety concepts. It has partnered with sportsmen and women including the American World Cup alpine ski racer and Olympic gold medallist Julia Mancuso to develop a signature collection, with road bike teams, such as Team Cannondale-Garmin and Team Stolting.
