Velocity, a NYC- and London, UK-based provider of a mobile payments platform, acquired Uncover, a UK-based mobile reservations platform.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Uncover provides real-time inventory to London’s restaurants – including 44 Michelin stars – such as Alain Ducasse Restaurants, Nobu, Coya, LIMA, Restaurant Story, Taberna do Mercado, and The Clove Club.
With the acquisition, which followed the recent purchases of Cover and Tab Payments, Velocity will add Uncover’s instant reservations to its mobile payments platform.
The combined network of over 800 premier restaurants now includes over 60 Michelin stars – including Carbone, Daniel, Cosme, Nobu, Hakkasan Group, The Slanted Door, Al’s Place, smoke.oil.salt, Republique, Sketch, Gymkhana, and Alain Ducasse’s and Alan Yau’s restaurants. The Uncover team will join Velocity with the three co-founders David Saenz, Christopher Steinau, and Dan Ziv taking senior management positions.
Led by Alex Macdonald and Zia Yusuf, venture capital backed Velocity provides an international digital hospitality service, connecting guests with restaurant and nightlife experiences. Velocity partners with venues to attract and retain global customers through mobile payments and loyalty. The service is live in New York, San Francisco, London, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Montreal.
