Grain, a Singapore-based food delivery startup, raised approximately $1.7m in Series A funding.
The round was led by NSI Ventures, which is part of the Northstar Group, a regional private equity investor with over $2.0bn of assets under management, with participation from Ivan Lee, 500 Startups, Digital Media Partners, and others. In conjunction with the funding, Hian Goh, Partner of NSI, will be joining Grain’s Board of Directors.
The company intends to use the funds to expand production capacity, build distribution hubs, hire new people and supplement ongoing technology development.
Led by Yi Sung Yong, Grain is a food delivery startup that allows anyone to order and eat meals or cold-pressed juices. The company, which maintains control over nearly every piece of the entire supply chain from cooking to ordering to delivering, serves customers from Facebook, Microsoft, Uber, Palantir, UBS, KKR and many other companies. The service is currently available in Singapore at lunch only – for now up to 5 days in advance.
