Wingz, a San Francisco, CA-based scheduled airport ride startup, closed an $11m Series B funding.
The round was led by Expedia, Altimeter Capital, and Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff.
The company intends to use the funds to extend the U.S. presence, as well as to continue to invest in the technology platform.
Founded in 2011 and led by newly appointed CEO Chris Brandon, Wingz allows travelers to schedule private, fixed-price door-to-door airport rides in advance of their planned travel date – The Wingz scheduled ride system features a technology platform that connects to the entire airline flight schedule grid. Given this, the mobile app, which is currently used by more than 20,000 active customers, automatically suggests a pickup time based on flight details, and matches rider loads (passenger number + bags) with drivers who have the correct car size.
The service is currently available at most major airports across the western U.S.
