Evertoon Raises $1.7M in Seed Funding

-

evertoonEvertoon, a San Francisco, California-based provider of an app that lets users turn stories into 3D animated movies, raised $1.7m in seed funding.

Backers included Greylock Discovery Fund, Arena VC, Amino Capital, ChinaRock, and strategic angel investors Ellen Pao, Ali Rosenthal, and Charlie Cheever.

The company will use the funds to launch the beta following beta and expand operations.

Evertoon is an app that allows users to turn stories into 3D animated movies by putting photos onto 3D avatars’ faces, and record dialogue with optional voice filters. The app turns users’ emojis into 3D animations and overlays the dialogue, creating movies that can be shared on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
In beta, the app has been mainly used by content creators, especially users who parody celebrity news and current events, and movie / television show fans to bring fiction to life.
