Gradescope, a Berkeley, CA-based edtech startup, raised $2.6M in funding.
The round was led by Freestyle Capital, Bloomberg Beta, Reach Capital, and the House Fund, with participation from existing investor K9 Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Dave Samuel from Freestyle will be joining Manu Kumar from K9 Ventures on the board.
The company will use the funds to expand its development efforts.
Led by CEO Arjun Singh, Pieter Abbeel, Ibrahim Awwal and Sergey Karayev, Gradescope is developing a big data tool for education that allows instructors to reduce the time of grading paper-based assignments and see analytics about their questions and students. The company is advancing additional tools including programming project autograding, AI for assisted grading, creating and sharing questions and projects, etc.
