Sirin Labs AG, a Schaffhausen, Switzerland-based maker of a next generation mobile phone, has launched with $72m in funding.
According to a note, the company raised the $72m round in November 2013.
Backers included Kazakh businessman Kenges Rakishev, Israeli venture capitalist Moshe Hogeg and his Singulariteam vehicle, former McKinsey consultant Tal Cohen, and Chinese company RenRen.
The company will use the funds to continue to launch its new first device.
Founded by Hogeg in 2012 and led by Tal Cohen, CEO, Sirin Labs makes an advanced mobile device that aims to allow customers to enjoy privacy and connectivity when travelling across the globe based on technology built with the support of research and development teams working from a facility in Tel Aviv.
The company, which currently has over 100 R&D experts in Sweden, Israel and the United States, is launching the first smartphone and flagship store in London in May 2016.
The team also includes Raphi Hess, VP R&D, Zvika Landau, VP Operations, Liran Marom, HR Director, Liat Caner, VP Finance, and Avi Itzhak, VP Services.
