Augmedix Inc., a San Francisco, CA-based Google Glass startup, raised $17m in funding.
The round was led by Redmile Group with participation from Emergence Capital, DCM Ventures, Sutter Health, Dignity Health, Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), TriHealth Inc., plus an unnamed investor.
The company, which has raised $40m in total funding to date, intends to use the capital to upscale its Google Glass-powered service and provide it to hospitals, health systems and private clinics across the United States.
Led by Ian Shakil, CEO, Augmedix provides a solution that allows doctors to access electronic health records via Google Glass and update them in real-time using commands, verbal notes and a remote scribe. The HIPAA-compliant service works with all EHRs now serving hundreds of primary care doctors, specialists and surgeons in nearly all 50 states.
The company has nearly 400 employees in offices worldwide.
