Mobile Commerce Platform Movile Raises $40M in Series F Funding

movileMovile, a Sao Paulo, Brazil-based mobile commerce platform, raised $40m in Series F funding.

The round was led by Naspers, through its Naspers Ventures division, with participation from Innova Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth of its suite of apps and services in Latin America and beyond, as well as enter the ticketing industry through a $4m investment in Sympla, a Brazilian online ticketing and event management company.
Co-founded by David Tomasella, Marcelo Cartacho and Rodrigo Cartacho, Sympla offers ticket sales, finance, social media and audience analytics tools. Since 2012, it has sold more than four million tickets to over 50,000 events held in about 2,000 Brazilian cities.

Led by Fabricio Bloisi, CEO, Movile is a mobile commerce company in Latin America providing a suite of commerce apps and services within the on-demand entertainment, food delivery, ticket and logistics sectors.
The company currnetly offers iFood, a food ordering service, Rappido, a shipping and logistics platform, and PlayKids, a subscription-based children’s entertainment and education platform.
It has 15 offices around the world with mobile products and services reaching more than 70 million people each month.
